For the lovers of folky whimsy creatures, book pages and fairytales, this class will take you to a fun place where a Russian Matryoshka and the magical owl meet in one being. In this class you will learn how I build the creature from the first sketch to the final detail.
At the end of the class you will have completed an artwork of a wise Matryoshka Owl, made with oil pastels and coloured pencils. This class is for all levels, beginners or professionals.
For our class project you will find an old inspiring book page & create a Matryoshka owl on it. I will guide you with the basics of my sketching technique, why I choose to work the way I do, how I mix oil pastels and coloured pencils, and of course the fun little details that will make your artwork be as magical as it can. Full online class here.
Hello! Once someone asked me to make tutorials of my paintings and Matryoshka art. It took few years, but here it comes. So, in this video you can see just a little of what’s going to be included in the special class of drawing a Matryoshka Owl on an old book page. See my other drawings on book pages here.
Feel free to drop me a line to my email, and I’ll let you know when the full class is ready.
Collaborative painting at special events such as weddings, is live magic for me. Suddenly, creativity takes place where it’s unexpected. Well, I guess this is the thing with creativity. There is always an element of surprise. When people come to a wedding, they usually think of how they look, what can they eat and oh what a nice place and such (and this is the positive scenario…)
Watch here at an Israeli wedding in action:
Seldom in weddings you will see people connecting to something authentic, find their place in peace and be passionate about a creative process. I am lucky to see it happen, every time when I bring my canvas, paint and brushes to a wedding. Since I created this method, I get to see more and more cooperative, joyful and brave people who are willing to take part in this activity of collaborative painting.
Often the guests in the wedding will look at this as surprising, and maybe they are even too afraid of really get to paint. “Maybe I’ll destroy it” they say. “I’m really bad at painting” is something I hear a lot. The thing is, that even 2 year old babies get to paint with me, at the same time with grandmas, businessman, mothers, bankers and more.
Of course things in the painting might change when few people are trying their brushes on it. The thing is, they really get to play this way. Free of the responsibility on the outcome (this is my part, you can see some examples here), free of what people will think, free of their own inner judge.
These are moments of magic, of letting go, of learning to be brave and to accept the change.
If you believe in this magic, I am here for you. I will fly anywhere in the world for this adventure, (well, if you come to Israel for your event it will be even easier for me…) or guide you on video with a special short course for collaborative painting leaders. I have been painting for all my life, but I learn new things about art and painting, almost every day. These days its more in understanding the purpose of art and how can art connect peoples hearts.
These heart paintings were painted in Russia on my summer vacation, while having some heart aches… emotional process and a lot of hours of watercolour painting, trying to paint my heart until it heals. So I painted a seed heart, birch heart, heart tree and a botanical heart where you can see its growing underneath the surface.
The thing is, it did help me grow my own heart back and more. When I published my Hearts at my ETSY SHOP, I understood it can help not only me, but others. So I learned of the importance of creating and sharing… Another thing I realised is that it can be much easier for some people just to get the printable hearts. So, I opened a special shop, just for printable hearts, HERE. It’s still a small shop, but I have many more printable hearts waiting to be uploaded to share with the world, to heal and to spread and share the love. Please, help me share it too if you like, and if you want to get some hearts straight to your email when I publish some new heart prints or other paintings of mine, drop me a line: Dinakof@gmail.com
I hope it was helpful for you to read this. Let me know how you feel about it, I really want it to be the best it can be.
This is the process and the final result, a painting of a dreamy girl with brown and curious wise eyes. Green flowery hair with a little bunny and even a tiny bird in it, communicating with each other 🙂 This painting is a sister painting of another one, with closed eyes, that I painted few years ago and sold the original. So, there it is, with a little pick on the process. Please write me for any questions, or just to say you like it! It makes me happy, really. To purchase this painting, just go to my etsy shop, here.
