Watercolor and gouache on a small piece of paper, quick painting. This painting of Tatiana was made by a photograph I took while working on a folklore festival. She is the leader of a russina children’s dancing group, a very inspiring woman. It is something very unusual to see here in Israel, very different culturally. She is always with her make up, and always with a smile. Very sensitive and very strong. I worked with Tatiana and her group 2 years in a row, and it was a pleasure. Here are some pictures from one of the festivals: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinakof/sets/72157607813845622/ there you can also find Tatiana in the picture which inspired this painting. And here is the group’s site, where you can see some of the dances: http://www.rdetstva.ru/.

My grandma, lucya (Liudmila). Watercolor and gouache on a small piece of paper, quick painting. This painting is made by a photograph I took few days before my wedding in 2008. She was born in Saint Petersburg and now she lives in Berlin. I like her strong yet sensitive character. Art is something that flows in my family tree, but she is one of those who don’t paint. Still, I think I learned from her about the art of life, which is the most important kind of art.
